Smoking and It’s Lung-Damaging Effects

A recent New York Times article, “No Such Thing as a Healthy Smoker” discusses two recent studies analyzing the damaging effects of smoking. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (C.O.P.D.), is the most known danger to both current and former smokers. Through the use of spirometry testing, doctors can determine if this disease is present in patients. However new studies suggest that this type of testing may not always show the presence of the disease.
